Real Men Wear Pink: Breast Cancer Survivor Michele Newman
When Michele Newman received her diagnosis of Ductal Carcinoma Stg 1a, Grade 2 all her husband Brian could think about was a family friend that lost her battle and wonder, “Will this happen to my wife?” Many families are left with a lot of questions after a loved one is diagnosed with breast cancer. Brian says, “My wife’s strength through it all, her ability to get up every day with a positive attitude and do what needs to be done to get through it. She never gave up.” Michele has amazing support from her family and friends, but Brian adds, “Don’t forget to be there for each other because it is tough on everyone. Let them express their feelings and make them feel heard.” Michele finished up 21 rounds of radiation in June 2023.

A New Name, The Same Heart

For 30 years, our organization has been part of the fabric of this community — supporting individuals and families impacted by breast cancer with compassion, care, and connection.

As we’ve grown, so has our understanding of what our community needs. Today, our work goes beyond awareness — we are building meaningful connections, providing education, and offering direct support through our Breast Cancer Detection Fund.

That’s why we are proud to share that Nor-Cal Think Pink is becoming Nor-Cal Breast Cancer Connection.

This new name reflects who we are today and the future we are building — one rooted in connection, support, and ensuring that no one has to face breast cancer alone.

While our name is changing, our mission — and our heart — remain exactly the same.
