Real Men Wear Pink: Breast Cancer Survivor Laura Klima
Laura Klima was diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 3b Inflammatory Breast Cancer and Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in October of 2012. Her son Nathaniel then 9, remembers finding out about his mom’s cancer on Think Pink Day when she came to pick him up from school after a doctor’s appointment. “I remember being so afraid for my mom when she said she was going to lose her hair. Even thought she was going through the scariest battle of her life she was always trying to make sure I was ok. When her hair fell out, she let me use her head as a canvas as a way for me to cope.” Nathaniel proudly wears pink for his mom. His advice for others,” Be there for each other. Cancer is scary, ask questions to find out how you can best support them. Cry because you’re scared or confused. Cry alone or together, but don’t be afraid to cry.”

A New Name, The Same Heart

For 30 years, our organization has been part of the fabric of this community — supporting individuals and families impacted by breast cancer with compassion, care, and connection.

As we’ve grown, so has our understanding of what our community needs. Today, our work goes beyond awareness — we are building meaningful connections, providing education, and offering direct support through our Breast Cancer Detection Fund.

That’s why we are proud to share that Nor-Cal Think Pink is becoming Nor-Cal Breast Cancer Connection.

This new name reflects who we are today and the future we are building — one rooted in connection, support, and ensuring that no one has to face breast cancer alone.

While our name is changing, our mission — and our heart — remain exactly the same.
